Spiced Rum Mojito – The Bottle Opener

It’s Mojito time on The Bottle Opener, as rum week delves into the realm of the cocktail. With the weekend coming, think about the minty rum favorite. While it’s a summer cocktail, and those of us in the northern hemisphere are IMG_20150128_221542stuck in the throws of winter, there’s no reason why you can’t start enjoying a tropical cocktail like the classic Mojito.

How to make it:

  • 2 Oz of Spiced Rum
  • 1 Oz of lime juice
  • 8-12 mint leaves
  • 2 tsp of granulated sugar
  • Soda water

The rum of choice for my concoction was Bacardi Oakheart, which I speculated may make a fairly good Mojito. I lightly muddled the mint in a glass with brown sugar, before mixing the rest of the ingredients and shaking. Finally, I poured into a glass and topped with soda and ice. For effect, I added a bunch of lime peel and mint sprigs as garnish, however, it should be noted that garnish is not necessary, but it does make it look that much better.
